In Peru, scientists have developed virtual environment for intelligent telerrehabilitation people

In an advanced project, unique in the region, created a 'motion simulator with telerrehabilitation visual environment for people with injuries in their lower limbs motor'.

The project was developed by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIDE) at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, with funding of the Science and Technology (FINCyT) of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and co-financing of the Inter Development Bank (IDB).

The main objective of this virtual environment, born of the marked deficit of medical rehabilitation specialists throughout Peru, is precisely to provide support for treatment and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities caused by motor lesions.

The technology used for these objectives is based on mobile platforms with intelligent visual environment to improve the rehabilitation process.

According to the latest population census, the proportion of people with disabilities represent 13.8% of total Peruvian population, which translates into a figure of around three million inhabitants, but only there are 73 health centers rehabilitation services. For Dr. Alejandro AFUS Higa, Executive Director of the Science and Technology (FINCyT), "the scientific and technological advances in rehabilitation medicine in developed countries, have created rehabilitation systems using virtual environments and transmission of information to places remote ", which will greatly facilitate access to physical recovery in a population where 88% of people with disabilities have no access to treatment.
