- The system is able to translate expressions of officials
- It provides formalities such as renewal of driving license or ID card
- It is a very important step to eliminate communication barriers

Researchers at the University of Madrid and the Fundación CNSE (National Confederation of Deaf People) have developed the first automatic system for speech translation to the Spanish Sign Language (LSE) will facilitate deaf persons conducting business with Administration.

The system is capable of translating the expressions uttered by the staff when caring for a deaf person, for example, want to renew driver's license or ID card. A very important step to eliminate communication barriers faced by deaf people.

The system translates into three phases. Initially recognized the voice of the official and obtain the sequence of words uttered. It then translates the sequence of words in annotations (written representation of signs) and finally, the signs are represented by an animated agent. This animated agent used was developed by eSign.
