The Siafu is a concept by Jonathan Lucas. It would be a computer instead of having a monitor, which is fairly useless to those who can not see it, would have a kind of tablet capable of playing up text and images in relief. To enable this concept would use a material that is still too conceptual, called "magneclay" or magnetic clay. It possess the ability to create relieves swelling under stimuli sent by the computer.
In addition include a program for converting images from 2D to 3D so that those who can not see the images can feel and understand them more easily.
Magneclay the electromagnetic waves used to communicate with the surface of Siafu and transmit the information necessary for it to form the relief.
The material would be formed by an agent-based synthetic oil, which can change its shape infinite times. But the forms taken would be strong as long as they continue to receive an electromagnetic load, so that they could touch without risk of distorting the image.
To interact with this computer, could use a keyboard consisting of nine buttons with the magneclay. The Siafu also include an area where one could "read" what you just write. Another method would be to use the built-in microphone. This, together with a voice recognition program, which would also be included in the Siafu, would be able to interact with computers using only your voice. This computer would be able to show sites intact, transmitting images and translated into Braille everything that is written in it.
No doubt the Siafu would be an interesting solution for the blind. If this concept is developed, would allow the blind to use all the options offered by computers, something that is trying for some time with innovations like the A-Browser or machines similar but more simple that we spoke last year .
With a dedicated software, the computer could generate reliefs of almost anything
