Woman builds of iPhone application for their two autistic sons

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Lisa Dominican, an Irish citizen, has designed an application for the iPhone based on a system of communication through images that it hopes will help her two daughters with autism to improve their "social skills".

The model of image exchange, employed by many parents of autistic children can construct sentences through a book containing photographs of real objects collected through their own experiences.

This method has been used is the Dominican on the mobile device, under the name 'Grace' - as one of his sons -. The idea of developing this application came into his head one day when I was in a bus stop and saw an advertisement for the iPhone.

'Grace' - at a cost of 21 euros - count on today with 300 symbols and pictures stored on your iPhone to "reflect" the current vocabulary of society. It also lets you add new pictures any time, according to "grows up" vocabulary.

The application also allows parents to share the discovery of new words to the guardians of children, which will help to further their education, as collected 'Portaltic.es' Site dedicated 'SiliconRepublic.com'.

The initiative for this Irish woman has been supported by the communications minister, Earmon Ryan, who congratulated the author for his "imagination" and encouraged further work in this kind of application. 'Grace' has also been aided by the operator O2 in the test section.
